About Our Chapter

The D. Parke Gibson Chapter of the Public Relations Student Society of America is committed to producing future leaders in the public relations industry. The D. Parke Gibson Chapter was founded in 1985 at Howard University by Debra Miller. We are striving to make our mark in the industry one press release at a time and cultivate public relations within all communities.

Our organization is a pre-professional student run organization with over 200 across the nation. We are named after D. Parke Gibson because he was a pioneer in multicultural public relations as well as the founder of the first black-owned PR firm, D. Parke Gibson International, in New York in 1960. We are located within the John H. Johnson School of Communications (JHJSOC), Howard University. DPG was the first Historically Black College or University chapter in PRSSA.
